Leverton report reveals insights into how artificial intelligence is selected, deployed and used in the enterprise

Driving cost-saving efficiencies in back office tasks remains top priority, while vendor experience, service are key selection criteria

NEW YORK  September 5, 2019 – LEVERTON, the premier artificial intelligence (AI)-powered data extraction solution for real estate and corporate documents, today released its report, AI in the Enterprise: Trends & Insights on Vendor Selection and Implementation. Based on a survey of individuals involved in technology procurement and implementation in their organizations, the findings reveal fresh insights about motivations driving the decision to implement AI as well as key factors influencing vendor selection, planned expenditures and more.

Some of the most interesting results of the survey are the differences in participants’ responses according to the status of their implementation. By dividing respondents into Leader, Looker and Laggard categories, LEVERTON surmises how perceptions change as a result of hindsight and experience.

Some of the report’s findings include:

  • As implementation progresses, respondents are more likely to report saving money as a primary goal. Reducing headcount is a more commonly reported goal during the early stages, while acquiring better data was deemed more important if you are late stage adopter
  • Business process automation and customer support are the main functions for which organizations are deploying AI
  • The most prevalent use cases for AI are those for which solutions have had time to mature, the problems solved are less complex and manual precedents are established
  • The most important criteria for vendor selection are those that make implementation itself easier and more effective, such as having pretrained algorithms, sector specialization and a reputation for superior service

Technology Procurement

The report also provides council on how organizations can best prepare at every stage of the process in order to best achieve their AI-implementation objectives.

“Enterprises today know that, to be successful in the future, they need to have a plan for leveraging artificial intelligence. They may not, however, be sure how to ensure their foray into AI is as successful as it can be,” said Abhinav Somani, former CEO of LEVERTON and current VP and Industry Principal of AI and Occupier Solutions at MRI Software. “Using the key takeaways and counsel provided in this report, we believe organizations can ensure they know what to expect and how they can be best prepared for seamless transformation.”

The report is based on responses to a survey conducted in Q2 2019, with 100 participants who reported being involved in planning for, selecting or deploying technology and who have implemented AI or are in the process of planning and selecting AI in their organizations.
